I thoroughly enjoyed working through the Lynda.com training course “Up and Running with Photoshop CS6” by Chad Perkins. Below is a copy of the training completion certificate, as well as thoughts on what I found most beneficial from completing the course.
What I loved most about this tutorial, was the greater understanding of each of the individual tools, and the power they each offer within Photoshop. So many tools that are simple to use, but extremely powerful for creating images when used in combination.
I better understand now about selecting the correct tool along the right hand side of the workspace, and adjusting the options along the top of the workspace. Additionally, I have a better command over creating layers, and applying filters to individual layers, and how those effects apply to the underlying layers. I also truly appreciated Perkin’s encouragement to combine the use of tools in creative ways to produce the end result you are looking to achieve. The example being his use of the stamp tool, to create an American flag, simply for the purpose of having uniform stripes that could be applied to his image. I connect with this, as that is often an approach I take in the use of applications, when completing many of my class projects.
The end result? Today I feel more confident in producing results in Photoshop and am no longer creating through hack methods. Instead, I am beginning to create assets as a creative hacker.
