The following is a revised submission of my original ad design prototype submitted in week three.
For my revisions, I made four primary adjustments.
- The first is a variation on a suggestion from Felisha. Felisha had recommended a possible outer glow on some of my text elements. After playing with various options, I settled on a drop shadow as the most effective in really providing a crisp presentation of my text elements. This may be a future consideration for the logo element as well.
- From my personal feedback from Ms. Smith, I opted to crop the photo n a different manner, using much of the building structure to help show leading lines. I feel that I was also able to more clearly capture the friends walking in the snow with their glasses of “Connect” wine.
- The third dominant change is my addition of blue lines that frame the slogan text. This came from my exploration of a different design that worked with negative space. In my alternate version, the thin blue lines ran along the left and bottom edges of the prototype. With my new changes, I felt the addition of blue was better used to frame the slogan.
- And, for my fourth change, I opted to revert to the full color image to better imply the warmth that is visible in the connection of friends.
I do envision even further iterations of this ad design that could be possible, including full cutouts against the black and white image, possible gradient masking or other filter effects (such as an orange photo filter over the black and white image). I would also like to continue exploration of working with just the cutouts of the friends against a negative space.
