This is my posting for this week’s portfolio project submission. For this submission, I used my final project from the Media Communications – Aesthetics and Theory of Communications as the base for my submission.
Connect Vineyards Ad Design Prototypes
Star Rating Desired:
In this series of ad design prototypes, the focus was using various color palettes to engage the audience through color psychology. There is also emphasis on various design concepts, like leading lines and the rule of thirds, but I also tried to consider hierarchy and symmetry within the design prototypes. The use of my color pallets are via the text and logo elements used in the designs. When originally creating the Connect Vineyards logo, the intent was creating a design that allowed variation in text color, which would enhance the use of color psychology in each design. Thee color palette colors will be seen throughout the logo variations, and the general text in the ad design concept.
The color palettes used, explored the use of Analogous, Monochromatic, and both Complimentary and Split complimentary colors.

The greatest piece of feedback, prior to this submission, was to further zoom in on the primary focus within the ad. Additionally, there were originally challenges with the placement of text, and additional color lines that were not necessary. I did feel that the color cut-outs, against a black and white (or even black) was a very effective way to draw focus, and build hierarchy, which is something I was working to accomplish throughout the original revision, and the additional prototypes.
For this submission, work was completed using Photoshop CC 2014 and Adobe Kuler. For the three new ad design prototypes, stock images were purchased from Dollar Photo Club, and are copy right compliant for commercial use.
Following are the color palettes:
